Comparing and Contrasting Title Sequences

How does the music style suggest what genre the show is?

The music suggests that the genre is crime. This is because of the fast place beat which keeps the rhythm and beat to the tine, the jazz style of music also reflects the music styles at the time it was created (1960s). The experimental sounds and instruments depict a new beginning after the second worlds war.

What does the typography of the graphics suggest about the show's era?

The typography used in the clip is bold and large. This reflects the genre of crime connoting it to dark and destructive. The style of text is 3D to help it stand out to the audience which conforms to the genre. The typography isn't very high quality which shows that at the time of the Avengers (1960) they didn't have advanced technology

Compare this opening sequence with the one below by picking out the similarities and differences and explaining what they suggest about how television technology has developed and how audience expectations have changed.

The clip of The Avengers is very dated, in black and white, as it was set in 1960 however the Cuffs titles are very current and contain colour. In The Avenger the typography is very bold and outgoing whereas contrasted with the typography in Cuffs which seems to be minimal and plain. The speed of editing is quick cut in both to portray a message of what the clip is going to show. However in The Avengers the clip only shows 2 characters differing from the Cuffs clip as that showed a variety of clips from the show- giving a brief overview for the viewer. The music in both clips is very tense and fast past however the music in the Cuffs clip is more hard core rock and doesn't conform to the genre as much as The Avengers which matches the style of clip (vintage) and conforms to the tense, crime genre.
